about
This song started with acoustic guitars. Shortly after I created the collaboration, Jim contributed the bass, which strongly influenced the further direction of the song. I invited Ellen and Gal, which I met on Kompoz through the collaboration Homeland. I added Strings (Frozen Strings, Spitfire LABS) in the bridge but struggled adding an organ in the chorus. Finally Peter joined and completed the song with a nice organ track.
Verse I
End of summer
Colours gold and brown
The leaves are falling
Swirling their way to the ground
Verse II
Oh, the
wind is swiping
Every street and every floor
Emptying parks
And clearing up those busy shores
Chorus
Winter is estranged to me
‘cause everything just stalls
Though as white
The snow might seem to be
Winter darkens me after all
Verse III (bridge)
In the papers today
All I read
Are horrid stories
About our wrath and greed
Verse IV (bridge)
Why are things never
what it seems?
People are smiling
But deep inside they're mean
Chorus II
We are so cold (like snow, like snow)
We are so cold (like the snow)
We are so cold (like snow, like snow)
We are so cold (like the snow)
Verse V
End of winter
Colours red and green
Leaves are spurting
Welcoming the Spring
Verse VI
The wind is easy
It lifts and it vents
Filling up the parks
And blasting air with seductive scents
Chorus
Spring is never strange to me
And as everything unfolds
Cold hearted
As I might seem to be
Spring is melting me like snow
Chorus (outro)
But Winter will always be estranged to me
Turning life into a deadly slope
Though as soft
The snow might seem to be
We all know
The snow is really freezing cold
Chorus II
We are so cold (like snow, like snow)
We are so cold (like the snow)
We are so cold (like snow, like snow)
We are so cold (like the snow)
